The Contractor's Kerb Cleaner

Both versions of the Contractor's Kerb Cleaner

The Contractor’s Kerb Cleaner or kerb sweeper is a purpose built and a easy to use machine for road builders, primarily to sweep kerbs and remove the gravel which builds up when the road base is applied or when top soiling footpaths.

The Contractor’s Kerb Cleaner came about due to a shortage of labour combined with the introduction of the M3 type of kerb. Because of the continuously curved section this kerb is nearly impossible to clean with the grader and difficult with a shovel.  Add to this the the cost of capital equipment standing idle while excess gravel is removed from kerb and channel. This probably exceeds the cost of the labour.

Traditionally this job is done manually using shovels and brooms, while graders, rollers and water trucks stand idle on the road side. But not any more! The Contractor’s Kerb Cleaner has changed the face of civil road construction, as what would normally take four men three hours with shovels and brooms,  one man can now complete in 30 minutes using the Contractor’s Kerb Cleaner!
